Richard Hume is on a mission to raise $10,000 for Miracle Babies Foundation by undertaking 30 Marathons in 30 Days from 1 June to June 30 in Townsville, Queensland.
In 2017, Richard’s eldest daughter, Ella was born at the John Hunter Hospital at 29 weeks and 5 days, weighing 1.01kg and he understands the impact of having a premature baby that needs to be cared for in the NICU.
“I am thankful that my daughter made it through, today she is a very healthy six-year-old. However, not many families are quite so lucky and go through days, months and years of heartache and hardship. Now it’s my turn to give something back to all the people that helped us.”
For all of June, Richard will be running each day, which means a very rigorous and raw training program that he is sharing on his Instagram page @rthperformance.
The challenge isn’t without any fun, so Richard has decided to do a day of racing in fancy dress for any donations of $240 from an individual.
“I have a pretty ambitious goal of $10,000 but I believe it is achievable for a great charity.”
Richard is no stranger to tough challenges, in 2010 he rowed across the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for a UK Charity. Then, in 2021, Richard had spinal fusion surgery to correct the curvature of his spine which had been causing pain when breathing or even just watching a movie.
Richard is definitely up for the challenge, and we are excited to follow his journey along the way.
