"Abigail was born on November 21st 2021 at Liverpool Private Hospital. I was originally induced due to IUGR and we had not planned to spend any time in the NICU but Abigail had other ideas.
During my induction Abigail’s stats dropped quite dramatically and I was rushed for an emergency C-section. When Abigail was born she was severely unwell and taken straight to special care in severe respiratory distress. Abigail then needed to be transported by the wonderful NETS team to Liverpool NICU where she was later diagnosed with late on set sepsis and placed onto a ventilator for a day until she started responding to treatment. After two weeks in the NICU we were transported to special care for a further week before coming home on December 15th 2021!
We settled in as a family however on December 29th Abigail went into multi system organ failure due to an (unknown at the time) condition called a Hypopituitarism.
Abigail was transported from Campbelltown hospital on life support to Randwick children’s hospital PICU where she spent two weeks on the ventilator whilst trying to diagnose her condition.
Thankfully after a month and a bit we returned home with a new diagnosis and thankfully our daughter.
Abigail is now on multiple medications each day to control the condition but it’s the absolute brightest and bravest little girl we’ve ever met!"
