Miracle Mum, Petielini shares Aiona Mirabelle's story
“It was tough, my family lived in NSW, and my husband worked FIFO. We had to go through IVF after 6 years of trying naturally. After 24 eggs were collected and 14 fertilised, only 1 survived Blastocyst.
We were so excited for the 15th of January until one night I started to bleed. I drove myself to Redcliffe Hospital and was immediately put in an ambulance to Royal Brisbane. I was only 24 weeks at the time. My world started to shatter. I was able to keep baby inside of me for one more week.
We were terrified at the risks associated with our daughter being brought to life at 25+3 weeks gestation and weighing only 800g. We were told your eyes would be shut and your voice not yet developed. It broke both heart & spirit, but at 4:43am on the 5th of October, we heard your 1st cry & your eyes were wide open. The Doctors were shocked. When we laid eyes on you, we knew we had to be strong for you, our beautiful warrior princess.
We admire your strength & determination, watching you fight to live has given us a different appreciation for life. You are our hero Miss Aiona Mirabelle, a true testimony of Gods merciful love & amazing power.
After a long 111 days spent at Royal Brisbane & Redcliffe Hospital, we finally got to take you home, on oxygen. After approximately 6 months, our Miracle baby came off home oxygen and continues to reach her developmental milestones”.
