Miracle Mum, Jevena shares Jaxon's story
"My pregnancy was going great. I had all the right symptoms and my bump was growing nicely.
We had our routine ultrasound at 20 weeks to find out the gender. They noticed something was wrong and I was rushed to hospital. After an exam, the surgeons explained without an emergency cervical cerclage, I would deliver my baby that weekend. It was found that I had dilated to 3cm and had bulging membranes at only 20 weeks.
The procedure went well and the stitch ended up holding for another 10 weeks until my waters broke spontaneously at 30 weeks. I immediately had steroid shots but unfortunately they didn’t reach the baby in time as I had to have an emergency C-section.
My son Jaxon was born 10 weeks early, weighing just 1735 grams. He was immediately taken for medical intervention and hooked up to CPAP. He was airlifted to a NICU 8 hours away and spent a total of 7 weeks in hospital. He is now a happy & healthy 5 month old, hitting his milestones and is so loved".
