Lewis was born at 25 + 5 at Mater Mother's Hospital in Brisbane.
He was a tiny 790-gram baby.
His biggest issues were his lungs; they were incredibly underdeveloped, and he ended up needing to be ventilated more than once during our time in NCCU and needed steroids to be able to come off the ventilator. We spent our time in the exact same pod and same bed for around 70 days with ventilation and blood transfusions to make sure he could keep fighting. Every day was a fight and we eventually got where he needed to be.
We spent 96 days in the NICU and SCN. He came home 4 days before his due date which we were so incredibly grateful for.
He came home on oxygen and now 5 months after coming home, we have officially said goodbye to respiratory support for our little guy. He is now 8 and a half months old. Smashing all his milestones and such a happy healthy baby.
He is our miracle baby, and we couldn’t be happier!
