NURTURE INFORMATION HUB
Miracle Babies Foundation NurtureLine is a free family support helpline catering for families with a threatened pregnancy, the hospital journey with a baby currently in NICU or SCN, the transition to home and onwards.
NurtureLine is available 7 days a week and is answered by our friendly staff who can transfer your call to an approved and trained family support team member. After hours calls are answered directly by our family support volunteers on a roster system in their own homes.
Extended family and friends are also able to gain support from the friendly and caring NurtureProgram team members, all who themselves have been through a NICU or SCN experience.
NurtureProgram team members are able to listen, share, understand and support families as they too have experienced the guilt, fear, anxiety and isolation of having a baby challenged by prematurity or sickness.
Miracle Babies works to connect families with similar experiences, either by gestation, hospital, state, condition, surgery and ongoing issues. This connection helps families acknowledge their experience and emotions and move toward the vision of the Foundation, 'better, healthier outcomes for newborns and their families challenged by prematurity or sickness.'
NurtureLine team members have all been trained and receive ongoing support from social workers and the Foundation. The Miracle Babies Foundation Induction and Training was developed in conjunction with Miracle Babies and NSW TAFE Social Faculty, Bankstown Campus, NSW. Volunteers are also familiar with the information provided on our website and can guide families on where and how to access further information when required.
www.miraclebabies.org.au is a proud information partner of HealthDirect and Pregnancy Birth & Baby.
Volunteers are not medically trained and cannot give medical advice. If you have a medical issue, we suggest you contact your local Hospital Emergency Department or visit your General Practitioner for advice and referral. If your call is not appropriate for our volunteer's level of training, you will be given details of other helplines or organisations who may be able to assist you better.
Miracle Babies Foundation NurtureProgram is able to continue to expand and help more of the 48,000 families affected by prematurity or sickness each year in Australia with your help.
