Our NurtureProgram is Australia’s only comprehensive parent to parent support program available from a threatened pregnancy, during the time spent in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN), the transition to home and beyond. This support also includes the loss of a baby cared for by a NICU/SCN. This program is provided free to Australia’s miracle families and includes play and support groups after discharge.
A core aspect of the program is NurtureTime, which is our in-hospital peer to peer support. Our qualified NurtureTime staff and volunteers visit the hospital to offer support, guidance and hope. Families can ask questions, share their thoughts and feelings knowing our NurtureTime team has a shared experience.
We are working hard behind the scenes to increase our presence in hospitals across Australia and we’re so excited to share that we are now offering a weekly session every Tuesday in the Special Care Nursery at Campbelltown Hospital in NSW. This service will run 10am-12pm by our NurtureProgram Services Manager, Tina Parker. Tina has her own experience with prematurity and spent time as a parent with her babies in the NICU and SCN herself so she has first-hand knowledge of the difficulties parents are currently living.
We’ve now had two sessions and it is so great to be in the Special Care Nursery to provide support to families who need it. If your baby is currently in the Special Care Nursery at Campbelltown Hospital and you feel like you might want to have a chat to Tina, you can find her every Tuesday in the unit, ask your nurse for more information.
Once you’re discharged from hospital, the closest NurtureGroup to the hospital runs fortnightly at Blair Athol Community Hall on a Thursday morning. Click here to register: NurtureGroup Registration
