Such Incredible support from our Miracle Community

Friday 9 August 2024

For families, the experience of having a baby come into the world not as expected or planned is life changing. Without support, this overwhelming and traumatic experience can have lifelong effects on the emotional well-being of these miracle families. It affects the entire family unit.

All funds raised enables us to continue to provide support to the Australian families, whose babies require the care of a NICU or Special Care Nursery.

From January 2024 to August 2024, we have had many individual community fundraising events held by our community. See below some of the wonderful events:

HBF - Run for a Reason

This was was an annual walk/run in WA and we had a few people in our community running for 'premature Babies'.

The total amount raised was $3,785 with team 'Sophia Miah' raising $2,602 alone. Thank you to all the participants for your support.

30 Marathons in 30 days - Richard Hume

Richard was on a mission to raise funds for Miracle Babies Foundation by undertaking 30 Marathons in 30 Days in Townsville, Queensland.

In 2017, Richard’s eldest daughter, Ella was born at the John Hunter Hospital at 29 weeks and 5 days, weighing 1.01kg and he understands the impact of having a premature baby that needs to be cared for in the NICU

Richard raised just over $7000 for Miracle Babies. Such an achievement!

Baby M is on the way! - Jeni Maltaris

During Miracle Month of May, Jeni had a Baby Shower and asked for donations to Miracle Babies in place of gifts and almost $1000 was raised.

We asked our guests to give a donation at our baby shower instead of gifts to help Miracle Babies. Being pregnant, I couldn't even imagine what some parents go through, so would like to support any way I can.”

Shave to Save - held by Daniel Freeman

Daniel shaved his hair at his workplace @ceiservices and raised an amazing $3015.

" In May 2021, our son Archie was born 8 weeks premature, followed by our daughter Daisy in Oct 2023. We faced the heartbreak of leaving them in the hospital's care, but the incredible nurses became our pillars of strength. To honour their unwavering dedication, Daniel will shave his head for the Miracle Babies Foundation."

Bluewaters Power - Team member Alan

Bluewaters Power employee, Alan decided to fundraise for Miracle babies in honour of his son Hamish who was born 7 weeks early. They raised an amazing $1492.

"The reason I shared my story with Bluewaters was to help out other families going through similar or worse journeys. That’s why we chose your charity for the donation, specifically because you offer support to those going through high-risk pregnancies and even providing support up to primary school years and beyond which is a great thing." - Alan said.

Felix's Baptism - Held by Jenkin Mercado

Felix’s Baptism was a celebration and a fundraiser, in lieu of gifts, Felix’s parents asked their guests to donate to Miracle Babies Foundation and raised $1200.

“Felix is our miracle baby who was born at 30 weeks back in October 2023 due to complications in my pregnancy. Our experience in the NICU was a scary and tumultuous journey. Philip and I experienced the lowest of lows, which was then contrasted by the highest of highs. This included graduating from CPAP and eventually coming off any form of breathing apparatus at discharge. Whilst in the NICU, we received lots of support from nurses, doctors, and those from the Miracle Babies Foundation".

In Loving Memory of Freddie - Fiona Roach

On Saturday 8th June, parents Fiona and Sam, their dog Loki and family and friends took park in a Coastal Walk to remember Freddie who would have celebrated his first birthday. A massive $8067 was raised thanks to the generous support from family and friends.

“Knowing this money will go towards helping other families and hospitals is a great comfort and makes us feel proud that we we're able to raise such a great amount in Freddie's honour.”

Office Fundraiser - Mullane & Lindsay Solicitors

Mullane & Lindsay Solicitors fundraised $500 at their fundraising lunch.

“We had a lunch which was rainbow themed. We asked our team to donate to the wonderful cause. We were motivated to donate to Miracle Babies as one of staff received support when their baby was born last year.”

Katie, who has fundraised for many years, completed the London Marathon in April and fundraised $988.

Katie was born a premature twin herself and knows what her mother had to go through.
