Globally, 1 in 10 babies are born premature. Every year in Australia, around 27,000 babies are born early, requiring the specialised care of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN) and sadly, prematurity is the number one cause of death for infants in Australia.

World Prematurity Day, is a globally recognised day to raise awareness of preterm birth, along with the deaths and disabilities associated, and the simple, proven, cost-effective measures that could prevent them.
