Every year, 15 million babies are born premature worldwide. Miracle Babies Foundation is Australia's leading organisation supporting families of premature and sick newborns.

Dear ##firstname##,

November NICU Awareness Month has ended for another year, and what a month it was!

Keep reading to find out about the impact you've made to families of premature or sick newborns in Australia.

NICU Awareness Month is a time to highlight the importance of Neonatal Intensive Care Units and Special Care Nurseries, and their amazing staff around Australia. 132 babies are born each day requiring specialised care, sadly today only around 1 in 3 families have access to vital support.

Thank you to all those who participated in #lightitpurple this year. Buildings, hospitals and landmarks all joined in to ‘Light It Purple’ and many also held World Prematurity Day Events.

Light it Purple is a very special initiative held on World Prematurity Day to help draw attention to and raise awareness of the challenges associated with babies being born premature and ultimately achieve better, healthier outcomes for these babies and families.

Miracle Babies hosted our annual NSW Charity Golf Day at Brighton Lakes Golf Club on Friday 10th November.

We are so grateful for the amazing support we received at our 2023 event and together we raised $30,974. In partnership with the support from our sponsors and silent auction prizes sold, this amount supports a further 216 families through their hospital journey. We can't thank you enough for the incredible difference you have made.

A huge thank you to the 76 fundraisers who participated in this years Move for Miracles Virtual Challenge. Together you raised an amazing $8,912 and moved 4,947km!

There are many ways to 'Move for Miracles', check the calendar for physical events.

November Media

Overall media had an audience reach of 64.2 million and focused on general awareness around the call for important changes in the Federal Legislation related to the Paid Parental Leave Scheme, seeking extended leave for families with a baby born requiring specialised care.

Help us advocate for change

Research conducted by Miracle Babies Foundation reveals that 8 out 10 families with premature babies experience additional financial impacts on their families. Supporting families with extended paid parental leave to be with the preterm and/or sick baby whilst in hospital for long periods is essential not only to support the bonding between the baby and parent/s but also to ensure that we are not losing women from the workforce.
