On the 18th of February 2010 I was 23 weeks and 5 days. I woke up fine but during the morning my little girl started kicking nonstop, so I called up the midwives and they asked if I could drive to the hospital. I was speeding down the freeway hoping a police car would pull me over so they could drive faster but no luck. I arrived at the first hospital where they hooked me up to a heart monitor. My little girl was fine but after 30 mins in their care they turned me away and made me drive to King Edwards Memorial hospital while I was in labour.

As soon as I got to the second hospital they took me up to the evaluation ward. I was being examined and when the nurse went to swab she looked in shock. She went away and not even one minute later I had 6 doctors in my room explaining the complications of what an early birth could be. I was already dilated with the membrane and my little girl’s legs kicking away. I was rushed to the delivery suite and put on a 20 degree angle to try and delay the birth from happening.... not even 2hours later my little girl arrived feet first. She cried out loud, all the doctors and nurses were shocked as they told me at her age she wouldn't be able to breathe. She was rushed down to the NICU and was in their care for two days. On her second night in the hospital a doctor came into my room at approximately 1am to tell me that my baby girl had a large bleed in her brain. The next morning we organised a naming ceremony/christening and later that day we said our good byes. Not a day goes by without me thinking about my precious angel baby ox a big thanks goes out to King Edward Memorial Hospital staff they were all amazing.
