Evie

So the beginning of the next chapter in ours daughter’s life has begun: school!

Miracle mum Lauren says she gave birth to Evie at 24 weeks due to chorioamnionitis. Weighing jut 652g she was born in the middle of the night at a hospital that wasn’t equipped for a premature birth.

Her journey was fraught with many issues but her biggest hurdles were CLD, PDA ligation surgery and a Grade 4 right sided IVH (as a result as PVL). We were informed that Evie would have a deficit and require some form of care for the rest of her life.

We bought her home completely tube free and fully breastfeeding 122 days later. Fast forward 5.5yrs and Evie is healthy, happy, independent and thriving. It’s hard (and terrifying) not knowing what’s going to happen in a minute, an hour, a day or a week, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Watching the determination and will of a baby born before their time is truly phenomenal, and remember you are not alone.

Evie recently asked why she was so little.

"I simply said it was so we could love you longer," shares Lauren.
