Miracle Mum, Shaye recalls the tough road she had to travel during her pregnancy and the sheer speed at which her daughter arrived at 30 weeks.

"I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks on June 18th.  I had been on the Depo shot for 3 years and had been trying to conceive for 6 months. I was absolutely overjoyed when I found out.

To this day I still call my daughter my miracle baby. At 6 weeks pregnant I had to have an emergency appendectomy. I was terrified that I might lose my baby. The doctors were very careful though. Following that I was referred to a specialist for high risk pregnancies. I had multiple cases of ecoli throughout my pregnancy.

At 30 weeks pregnant I went into the hospital complaining of cramping. I was told by the doctor on call that I just had the flu and to go home. On the 18th of December I had my last ultrasound and I remember when the ultrasound technician did the ultrasound it felt very painful. 2 days later on December 20th at 1:59 pm I had my daughter.

I had went into the family birthing unit complaining of some odd discharge and was told that the amniotic sac had ruptured. The doctors tried to hold me off till 34 weeks and I was told I would be having a c section, however, she was already in the birth canal so that was no longer an option. Once the doctor broke my water within minutes my daughter arrived. I had no pain medication at all and I remember the nurse running out of the room screaming for the doctors to come back in after I told her she was coming. Initially she didn’t believe me.

My beautiful baby girl was born at 30 weeks 3 days. She stayed In the NICU for 3 months and came home on February 5th... 20 days before her due date.

She is 2 years old now and a very happy healthy little girl. I am very thankful to the hospital and it’s staff for their dedication and taking such good care of violet."
