In Australia, every hour 6 babies are born premature or critically ill. Babies born premature or critically ill can go on to face lifelong challenges. These babies require specialised medical care and sadly, each year up 1,000 babies will lose their fight for life. One is too many!
Marcus was born extremely premature at just 25 weeks gestation, together with his twin Scarlet, in the early hours via emergency c-section on 13th March 2004. Marcus weighed 780 grams and was ventilated and Scarlet weighed 645 grams and was on CPAP for breathing. We heartbreakingly lost Marcus at day 2 of life and our lives changed forever. After 4 months we took Scarlet home.
It's been 20 years since we held our precious boy and every day we miss seeing him grow up and being able to talk to him, laugh with him, hug him. Forever in our hearts.
