Proud Grandparent's Project

When a family travels the difficult journey of welcoming a premature or sick baby into the world, it isn't just the parents or carers who are impacted. The whole family feels the reality and shares in the emotions of the experience.

None more so than grandparents. Grandparent relationships are diverse and come in many different forms across Australia. Grandparents, grand-friends, kin, and those who take on the role of a grandparent in their family are often a great source of support for Miracle families facing these challenges.

To honour and celebrate the grandparents in our lives, Miracle babies Foundation is launching the 'Proud Grandparent's Project'.

The project will work to recognise the amazing role grandparents have in this journey whilst also acknowledging the difficulties grandparents may face, including isolation, fear, helplessness, anxiety, detachment, confusion, and even conflict.

There are several ways you can support the Proud Grandparent’s Project, whether you’re a grandparent yourself, or in honour of a grandparent:

Donate to the project
This will help provide resources and support services to families going through this.

The first 200 to donate to the Proud Grandparent’s Project will receive a free gift from Plantacard with every donation of $50 or more - a beautiful gift that keeps giving and represents the miracles that special grandparents help to nurture. Infused with tiny little seeds, Plantacard greeting cards can be planted in a pot or in the ground. Once planted, the paper composts away and the seeds that are embedded within the paper grows. Grow in honour of your own grandchild or pass it on to your children’s grandparents.

Sponsor a special resource
This special resource is provided via our resource pack given to families in the NICU, this gift will be treasured by grandparents and their grandchildren for years to come and is a lovely gesture for grandparents facing this difficult experience. You can also donate to support our ongoing family resources and support services for parents and carers.
