NURTURE INFORMATION HUB
Though it can be hard to know if specific health issues later in life can be related to prematurity or ill at birth, being born early or needing specialised care in a NICU or SCN can possibly increase the risk of long term health issues for some people, which is why it is important to inform all your doctors that your teenager was born prematurely or sick. There are specialists for almost all health disorders, but none specifically for teenagers who were born prematurely. Therefore, it’s important to find a suitable specialist for your condition. Your GP can refer you to a suitable health professional.
